Apple launched iOS 15.0.1 and iPadOS 15.1 on Monday, both of which include bug fixes and security updates.
The upgrades arrive two weeks after the release of iOS 15, and MacRumors reports that the issues addressed include an Apple Watch bug and an instance where the Settings app provides incorrect information.
The iPhone 13 had a bug that prevented users from unlocking their phone with an authenticated Apple Watch if they were wearing a facemask. This update fixes the problem.
Also fixed in iOS 15.0.1 is a bug in the Settings app that caused a message to appear informing users that their device’s storage was full when it wasn’t. It also fixes a problem that caused audio meditation programs on the Apple Watch for Fitness+ users to start working out.
The same Settings app and audio meditation fixes are included in the iPadOS 15.1 updates.
In terms of security patches, some Twitter users have pointed out that the update addresses a zero-day lock screen vulnerability that Apple failed to mention in its release notes.
The update rollout does not appear to be going as well as Apple would want. Several Twitter users have claimed that the solutions are inconsistent, in some cases causing new issues. For example, one user states that after installing 15.0.1, his iPhone Pro 11 now shows that his storage is empty.
Apple has announced that it intends to fix an issue that prevents app developers from fully leveraging 120Hz ProMotion displays for animations in their apps.
The latest update is available for all eligible devices and can be found in the Settings app under Software update.
