After updating to iOS 14.7.1, some iPhone users have reported losing carrier service.
Apple released the 14.7.1 patch on July 26 and addresses a recent bug that stopped certain Apple Watch owners from using Touch ID to unlock their devices. According to 9to5Mac, some people on the Apple Developer forum are receiving “No Service” notifications from their carriers after installing the update.
“I recently updated my OS to 14.7.1 and lost all of my cellular data,” one user comments on the Apple Developer forum. “I’ve done all steps of the troubleshooting process and still can’t get it to function.”
“Wake up to ‘No Service’ around 2 weeks ago and it’s still there,” adds another iPhone X customer. “I believed it was only on my phone. Everything has been tried. Still.”
In the same discussion, someone else mentioned that their iPhone 8 Plus experienced the same issue. “The Cellular screen in Settings is blank.”
To fix this issue, Apple recommends restarting your iPhone, changing your network settings, or removing and reinserting your SIM card, but the forum posters claim that these solutions don’t work.
“…iPhone owners who are suffering “No Service” issues should not have to wait long for a solution.”
Apple is hard at work on its major iOS 15 upgrade. An offline mode for Siri, FaceTime calling for non-users via the web, sharable health data, and more are among the significant enhancements. It was in beta testing and was set to launch in September.
