Samsung is releasing a new app that will use augmented reality to improve the shopping experience.
According to the company, changing consumer shopping habits as more people shop online is the inspiration for this upcoming feature.
Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience in which real-world objects are enhanced with digital information. AR is available in a variety of apps, such as photo filters and mobile games that allow you to interact with characters.
The Samsung app is called Retail Mode, and it will only be available at Best Buy, online, and at select retailers. Users can open the app while they are in a supported location to explore sizing, color options, and how the item looks when worn. Users also can unlock the same capabilities online by scanning a QR code in-store.
The AR experience includes the Size and Compare options. The Size option, as the name implies, lets users see how big a device is in comparison to their hand. Compare will then allow you to contrast various devices (including competing ones) in real-time.
You might be able to compare the Galaxy Watch to the Apple Watch and decide which is a better buy.
Colors and The Look are the other two tools, which will allow you to explore various color options for your devices and see how a device will look when worn, respectively.
The Galaxy S21 series has a Retail Mode, and it can offer images of the Galaxy Watch4, Buds Pro, Buds2, and Buds Live.
