The new Windows 365 cloud PC service drew far too much attention, reaching capacity in just one day and forcing Microsoft to temporarily halt free trials.
The ability to stream your work or home PC’s apps and data proved so appealing that Microsoft ran out of free trial space the day after it launched the program. Microsoft 365 states on Twitter that anyone who wishes to continue using the service can sign up to be notified when trials resume.
However, only the free trials have been temporarily halted. The Windows 365 Cloud PC program continues to offer both Business and Enterprise options, with per-user subscriptions ranging from $31 to $41 and $66, depending on your needs. So it won’t affect you if you know exactly what you want and don’t need to try it on before you buy.
Scott Manchester, the director of program management for Windows 365, tweeted saying that while Microsoft is at capacity for free trials, the company is looking for ways to expand that capacity. Meanwhile, customers appear to be pleased with what they’ve been able to try, with Twitter user @JakeBravo_ writing, “I’ve only had it for a day, but it’s already proven useful. On my iPad, I’m doing all of the coding.”
User @michamcr, who is also a fan of the service, responded to Manchester’s tweet: “Scott, congratulations! It’s great to see such good customer demand “.
Users expect free trials for the Windows 365 Cloud PC service to resume in the future, but no timeline has been provided.
