ASUS has begun updating the firmware on several of its motherboards after the release of Windows 11.
ASUS is preparing for the release of Windows 11 this year by releasing new Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) updates for many of its motherboards. You can download the latest firmware update or manually enable support with an Intel or AMD model board for Windows 11 support.
Trusted Platform Module (TPM) for AMD boards and Platform Trust Technology (PTT) for Intel boards will be automatically enabled with the updated ASUS firmware. TPM has been a source of confusion in the past, as The Verge points out because the BIOS would sometimes refer to it as PPT or “PSP fTPM.”
As a result, it appears that ASUS is attempting to avoid further confusion by enabling TPM automatically.
ASUS warns that there may be stability issues with the Insider Preview build.
According to @monntolentino on Twitter: “I updated my BIOS (which was already in Windows 11) and it disabled the resize bar and PTT, they were previously enabled. In addition, I spent about an hour or more repairing the Armoury Crate on my Prime Z590-A after it suddenly lost control of my lighting. Everything had to be reinstalled, and nothing worked!”
The ASUS website has instructions on how to update your BIOS, either automatically or manually, as well as a list of updated chipsets. It’s a long list, so if you want to find your model, you may need to use Command/Control F, but you’ll be able to see at a glance if it’s already been updated or is still “under testing.”
