To prevent overcharging difficulties, Samsung has added a new battery protection feature to the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.
The new Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 come with a slew of new improvements and features, including the latest version of Samsung’s One UI launcher. The Protect Battery option is the most notable of these features, according to SamMobile, as it limits charging of the phone’s battery to 85 percent each time it is plugged in.
The Protect Battery feature is designed to keep the battery safe. Because battery life deteriorates with each full charging cycle—recharging the battery to 100 percent of its overall capacity—charging it to 85 percent will help it last longer.
Samsung is finally providing users a method to get more out of their batteries by restricting the amount of charge the battery may receive each session.
Protect Battery has been available on Samsung tablets for a while, but this is the first time a Galaxy smartphone has it.
Even with the latest version of One UI, version 3.1.1, Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series has yet to receive the feature. As a result, it’s unclear whether the feature would be limited to the company’s foldable phones or if it will be included in future Galaxy handsets.
For the time being, users of the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 can use the Protect Battery option to extend the life of their batteries.
